Squat lobsters, Munida quadrispina, attempt to intimidate slender soles
Squat lobsters, Munida quadrispina, attempt to intimidate slender soles, Lyopsetta exilis, with their chelipeds so the soles keep their distance as they swim by. The squat lobster on the left must have previously been attacked, because it’s missing its left cheliped and a right walking leg. Pacific herring, Clupea pallasii, swim above in search of food.
