Verena and Jackson discuss new VENUS digital stills camera on December 2011 cruise

On the latest maintenance cruise (CCGS John P. Tully and CanPac’s Oceanic Explorer ROV) we serviced several VENUS sites, and deployed two refurbished cameras. Shown here is Verena Tunnicliffe and Jackson Chu discussing the latest digital stills camera VENUS has prepared, nicknamed DISCo (Digital Stills Camera). It is similar to our old CMap digital stills camera (west of the SI Node, Camera Site 1) and was deployed in Saanich Inlet, NE of the Node (Camera Site 2). By the end of the cruise (Dec 8-15, 2011) we had deployed two digital stills cameras in Saanich and a new HD webcam at the SoG East site, for a total of four cameras (including our SoG Central SD webcam) across the entire network.
