Shawn McKim rebuilds the VENUS camera interface

Computer Engineering student Shawn McKim has developed a new interface for VENUS seafloor cameras. The CMAP Digital and Stills camera system shown here in the tank has been a workhorse for VENUS, enabling a series of research projects in Saanich Inlet over the last five years. Shawn was hired to redesign the software interface for this and other cameras based on input from scientists using cameras in their research. These types of cameras have been used for forensic, microbial and bio-rhythm studies by both the national and international research community.
