The East Pacific Red Octopus (Octopus rubescens) is found from the southern Gulf of California to the Gulf of Alaska. O. rubescens generally grows to a mantle length of 8-10cm and up to 400 gm. Like all octopuses, it can change its color and texture; from a deep brick red, to white. Octopuses are thought to be among the most intelligent of invertebrates, and O. rubescens was the first invertebrate in which individual personalities were demonstrated.
